Hot tea makes for a comforting cold-weather treat. It comes in a plethora of varieties and flavors, and it's easy to find versions that are caffeine-free. Best of all, the ingredients in tea have a wide range of health benefits.
I decided to buy a canister of this rooibos blend by
The Republic of Tea, as I was curious about how the delicious flavors of almond and coconut would translate to a beverage.
As with all of the flavored teas I've tried, the taste of the hallmark ingredients is very subtle, yet discernible. It's very tasty indeed.
I like to sweeten hot tea with honey, either pasteurized or raw. It's purported that raw honey possesses quite a few health benefits that processed/heated honey does not. I buy the brand pictured below, which I get at Whole Foods. I've wondered if putting raw honey in hot tea destroys any of its health benefits. I've read that honey is pasteurized at about 150 degrees, so I dunno.
In any case, however you sweeten your tea, try it--you just might like it! ☺
