~QUOTATION FOR THE DAY

"During painful times, when you feel a terrible void, think how God is enlarging the capacity of your soul so that it can receive him--making it, as it were, infinite as he is infinite.  Look upon each pain as a love token coming to you directly from God in order to unite you to him."

~WAITING ON NEW WINGS...SONG FOR THE DAY

For those who seek the face of God
For those who call the name of Christ
The road upon this earthly sod
Will one day lead to Paradise
We embrace the cross of Calvary
Pressing toward the prize we will receive

We're waiting on new wings
Searching an old sky
Waiting for the day
We see Heaven coming down
There's a Promiseland awaiting
But there's mercy in the meantime
While we're walking on this ground
Between crosses and crowns

We stumble and we lose our way
We question what we're doing here
Yet all the time we watch and pray
We're wondering if the end is near
So He left us His amazing grace
Until we see Him face to face

We're waiting on new wings
Searching an old sky
Waiting for the day
We see Heaven coming down
There's a Promiseland awaiting
But there's mercy in the meantime
While we're walking on this ground
Between crosses and crowns

We're pilgrims on a mission field
Where the heart gets changed
And the soul gets healed
There's a purpose in these shadowlands
Between the crowns of gold
And the nail-scarred hands

There's a Promiseland awaiting
But there's mercy in the meantime
While we're walking on this ground
Between crosses and crowns

~QUOTATION FOR THE DAY

"Take all your doubt and fear
Whisper it in His ear
Drop it in the mailbox
Raise the flag
And let it go"

~POEM FOR THE DAY

THE CELESTIAL SURGEON
~By Robert Louis Stevenson~

If I have faltered more or less
In my great task of happiness;
If I have moved among my race
And shown no glorious morning face;
If beams from happy human eyes
Have moved me not; if morning skies,
Books, and my food, and summer rain
Knocked on my sullen heart in vain:--
Lord, thy most pointed pleasure take
And stab my spirit broad awake;
Or, Lord, if too obdurate I,
Choose thou, before that spirit die,
A piercing pain, a killing sin,
And to my dead heart run them in!

Despite the admonition in 1 John 2:15, I think this is a cute poem that expresses gratitude for simple things in an original fashion ☺.  For further discussion of this topic, see the Barnes and Matthew Henry commentaries here.

~QUOTATION FOR THE DAY

“Sometimes, the simple things are
more fun and meaningful than
all the banquets in the world ...”

~"YOU TAKE AN ORDINARY DAY, AND TURN IT INTO FLOWERS LIKE THE MONTH OF MAY, YES YOU DO..."

What is this sun that conquers mountains
Singing over what has been asleep?
What is it that softens all my doubting?
It's You

Morning brings a hunger for new eyes
That have been covered by the hurt of yesterday
Who could create in me the vision of a little child?
It's You

You take an ordinary day
And turn it into flowers like the month of May
Yes You do
You see all my pain
You cry over it for hours 'til I'm new again
Yes You do

When I have been a victim of familiarity
When my heart has fallen into sleep
Healing is the voice that awakens me
It is You

You take an ordinary day
And turn it into flowers like the month of May
Yes You do
You see all my pain
You cry over it for hours 'til I'm new again
Yes You do

You, You make me new...
