~MORE THAN HER MUSIC ♫

Christian recording artist Moriah Peters will be releasing her debut album in April.  Not only is her sound unique, soothing, and sincere, she has also taken a stance on the issue of purity.  She is open about the high standards she has set in her dating life, and is abstaining from kissing until she is married (I'm right there with ya' girl!).  What an inspiring Christian and a creative one at that.  Furthermore, I'm fascinated by the quirky yet affecting Instagram pics she posts on twitter, in which she draws on her hand, incorporating Bible verses.

~POEM FOR THE DAY

"Thus saith the Lord:
Heaven is my throne, and the earth my footstool."
~Isaiah 66:1a~

I spoke with God at the round-table
A purity I can hardly know
Flying around in circles
I landed on his Toe

~BEARY CUTE DINNER ROLLS

These are adorable and would be really simple to make (especially if you used frozen bread dough, of course!).  I can't tell what was used for the eyes and noses--black icing perhaps?  Here is a similar idea on tasteofhome.com. ☺

~POEM FOR THE DAY

~ Food and Colour ~

Many different plants will furnish
daily food an insect needs;

But it always takes the colour
from the leaf on which it feeds.

Christians often from the Bread of heaven
 turn to earthly fare,

But a little change of colour--to their shame--
they always wear.

If on Christ, the Lamb, we're feeding,
we'll present a heavenly blue,

But the tastes of earthly follies
change us to another hue.

~Author Unknown~

~ ~ ~

Hmmm...what colour (love that British spelling!) would I be? I suppose I would diverge from the heavenly blue just a bit, if only so I could head over into the purples and become my favorite shade:
periwinkle

~ ~ ~

Though, if my hue were to reflect what earthly food I eat the most, I would probably be the color of McDonald's.  Aren't their french fries the best?

~THE TEACHER

"The Lord is my teacher.  I shall not want.  He maketh me to learn in God's out-of-doors.  He teacheth me by his written Word.  He instructeth my soul.  He guideth me in the paths of true knowledge for his name's sake.  Yea, when the day's task is done, and life's lessons have been learned, I will fear no evil, for thou wilt be with me, My Teacher and my Comforter still.  Thou teachest even my enemies to become pupils of the Great Teacher.  Thou leadest me gently from the known to the unknown.  Thou givest me satisfaction in my day's work.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall be a learner in the school of the Great Teacher forever."

~Frederic S. Goodrich~

~ ~ ~

"Besides being wise, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge, weighing and studying and arranging proverbs with great care.  The Preacher sought to find pleasing words, and uprightly he wrote words of truth.  The sayings of the wise are like goads, and like nails firmly fixed are the collected sayings which are given by one Shepherd.  My son, beware of anything beyond these.  Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.  The end of the matter; all has been heard.  Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man."
~Ecclesiastes 12:9-13 (RSV)~

~ ~ ~

"You all have a single Teacher, and you are all classmates."
~Matthew 23:8b (MSG)~

~ ~ ~

"Let no one deceive himself. If any one among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.  For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, 'He catches the wise in their craftiness,' and again, 'The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.'  So let no one boast of men. For all things are yours, whether Paul or Apol'los or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future, all are yours; and you are Christ's; and Christ is God's."
~1 Corinthians 3:18-23 (RSV)~

"...as for knowledge, it will pass away.  For our knowledge is imperfect...but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away."
~1 Corinthians 13:8-10 (RSV)~

~POEM FOR THE DAY

now-brewing:

Our Daily Bread

Back of the loaf is the snowy flour,
And back of the flour the mill;
And back of the mill is the wheat and the shower,
And the sun and the Father's will.

~GRATITUDE

~ "Old Maid," by Frederick Goodall (1822-1904) ~

~ ~ ~

"Gratitude consists in a watchful, minute attention to the particulars of our state, and to the multitude of God's gifts, taken one by one.  It fills us with a consciousness that God loves and cares for us, even to the least event and smallest need of life.  It is a blessed thought that from our childhood God has been laying his fatherly hands upon us, and always in benediction, and that even the strokes of his hands are blessings, and among the chiefest we have ever received."

~POEM FOR THE DAY

Streaming

I believe in the brook as it wanders
   From hillside into glade;
I believe in the breeze as it whispers
   When evening's shadows fade.
I believe in the roar of the river
   As it dashes from high cascade;
I believe in the cry of the tempest
   'Mid the thunder's cannonade.
I believe in the light of shining stars,
   I believe in the sun and the moon;
I believe in the flash of lightning,
   I believe in the night-bird's croon.
I believe in the faith of the flowers,
   I believe in the rock and sod,
For in all of these appeareth clear
   The handiwork of God.

~POEM FOR THE DAY

God the Architect

Who thou art I know not,
But this much I know:
Thou hast set the Pleiades
In a silver row;

Thou hast sent the trackless winds
Loose upon their way;
Thou hast reared a colored wall
'Twixt the night and day;

Thou hast made the flowers to bloom
And the stars to shine;
Hid rare gems of richest ore
In the tunneled mine;

But chief of all thy wondrous works,
Supreme of all thy plan,
Thou hast put an upward reach
In the heart of Man.

"And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. "

~CHEESE: IT'S ONE OF THE MAJOR FOOD GROUPS!

Though there are countless varieties of tasty cheese,
I myself am partial to swiss.  Why?

Because it's holy.

"For he himself has said,
'You must be holy because I am holy.'"
