~I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL...

The following is a devotional which a pastor friend of mine wrote...

~ ~ ~

"Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your countenance."
~Psalm 89:15~

I can remember when I was 8 years old hearing music moving up and down the street. I naturally went outside to see what was going on and found a white truck with stickers all over it in the shape of ice cream cones. There is no one sound like that of an ice cream truck and from that time on when I heard those melodious chimes, I would run outside with excitement and happiness to get something cold for a hot day.

Likewise, when the voice of the Lord calls out to us, may we respond to it with the same childlike excitement and glee that young children demonstrate at the arrival of the ice cream truck. May the name of the Lord bring joy, comfort, and peace to our hearts and smiles to our faces.

~THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Lately I have been thinking about how I believe these verses illustrate how soulmates "get made."  After all, don't people sometimes describe that special person who they're meant to be with ("the one") as their "missing piece"?

As far as I know the concept of soulmates isn't in the Bible, and it's not something I focus on.  I feel like the right thing to do is to make sure you're with the person you're meant to be with and stay on the right path in that way.  This world isn't a perfect place, and maybe the Lord doesn't want us to become preoccupied with the soulmate-mystery; it might cause us to stray from the Way, to take our focus off of Him, or to become too rigid.  Sometimes people pass away, for example, but that dosn't mean the person who is left behind can't find love.  All of that being said, I most definitely believe God created a gal for each guy and a guy for each gal and that they'll be able to be together in heaven if not on earth.  Yes, I believe in soulmates :)

~POEM FOR THE DAY

Fortunate tides
Help me decide
Why I am here
On a wing
And a tear.
Insular ramparts
Drawing the line
Between the vast sea
And the wave
That is mine.
